Kitsunè
breve ed indolore. praticamente non lascia traccia. l'intervista, non l'etichetta.
1 What is Kitsune'? From my perception, it is a wild bunch of 6 people devoted to many expressive forms. Does that picture give the project justice? You come across as a combination of record label, clothing company (with your own outlet) and you do design work from time to time as well... so how would you define the project? What is the drive behind the structure?
At the end of the day kitsuné is a brand with 6 good art directors working on it, some of which are image specialists, others deal with music, others with structure. We like to be defined as clothing brand.
We gonna be stock at paraphernalia in roma.
2 The only information I received about you doesn't go deeper than the mere fact you are a bunch of guys running a label, however by your name and surname it's quite easy to suggest that you all have different origins, in that people who work in Paris but maybe you are not French.... This is not particularly interesting per se but seen within the context of an artistic project that could have some relevance. So does your different origin influence your work (and if yes how) ?
There are 2 of us in Paris: Masaya and myself (Gildas) and 4 in London: Kajsa, Patrick, Maki, Benjamin. We all have different backgrounds but we are kind of connected.
3 As a record label you are pretty partial to the 12" vinyl format...what can you tell me about it?
We love club music and club music's best medium is still the 12". We are also doing a bit of artist development work that you can also find on cd.
4 What's France's best kept secret, music-wise? Is there anything interesting to find out about your land? Obviously in Italy you are considered our "cousins", with the usual "love 'em or hate 'em" approach therefore we don't know much about the French underground. We heard a lot about the so called "frenchtouch" period but no news about clubbing and the independent scene in general are found. Could you paint us a picture of the overall French musical lifestyle ?
Paris is the most romantic city in the world( after Venice ? ;o) so it's all about having emotion and feeling in the music.
